Some interesting things have popped up in the FOSS world in the last few weeks. Some of you may have seen these, others may not;

• XFCE got some substancial bling

  • XFCE 4.4 screenshot tour - look at the compositing window manager

  • Another tour

  • A nice list of XFCE goodies

• New GNOME bling

  • Eye of GNOME improvements

  • New Control Center shell

  • Color scheme support

  • Metacity with composite support

• Distro bling

  • Metisse - I must have this_ _

  • PulseAudio in Fedora (PulseAudio is cool)

• Toolkit bling

  • GEGL (with new ruby demo)

  • Clutter v0.2

• Development bling

  • libgpod with iPod photo support (great for Conduit)

  • Telepathy and Application Data Channels (ADCs)

  • Gtkmozembed (Firefox 3 / Gecko 1.9 based). Way more power than its predecessors. More on my plans with this later

  • Gabriel - DBus over SSH (more on this and its uses in Conduit later)
